There are a few mornings when I just can’t get up. Actually. I can’t get up regardless of the amount I may need or need to.
I’ve been managing interminable agony and intestinal disease for a couple of years. Some days, I wake up prepared to take on the world. Different days, I wake up with obscured vision, stomach torments, cerebral pains and muscle soreness that is as erratic as it is excruciating, and everything I can figure out how to do is remain in my sheets and feel frustrated about myself.
On those days, I severely dislike my body. I detest it for keeping me down, causing me torment and basically shielding me from doing what I need it to do. What’s more, on those occasions when I am irate with my body, I get frantic at myself. Since I realize I shouldn’t feel that way.
In an existence where hourglass figures and Instagram likes make benchmarks of self-esteem, there is a developing counterculture of body energy that reminds us to dependably adore ourselves as we seem to be.
