No one can say Kurtis Kaser doesn’t have a solid will to live.
The 63-year-old Nebraska grain rancher demonstrated it as of late when he remove his left leg with a folding knife so as to endure a disastrous accident.
Kaser was emptying corn on his ranch close Pender when he got his foot caught inside a grain wood screw, a gadget intended to store grain in a receptacle, as indicated by The Related Press.
“Stepped into the container in the little gap. It just sucked my leg in and I was endeavoring to haul it out, however it continued pulling,” Kaser told neighborhood station KETV. “When it originally occurred, I figured, ‘This ain’t great. This isn’t great at all.'”
Even more regrettable: Kaser couldn’t discover his cellphone, so he couldn’t call for assistance, even as the gadget maneuvered him further into the grain hopper.
So he chose extreme yet essential measures were in order.
“I had my folding knife in my pocket. I stated, ‘The main way I’m leaving is to cut it off,’ so I just began sawing at it,” he told the station. “When I was cutting it, the nerve endings, I could feel, similar to, the ping each time I sawed around that pipe, and at the same time it went and it let me go and I got the hell out of there.”
Kaser then crept home with his elbows so he could call for assistance. Specialists on call before long touched base in a helicopter and took him to a nearby hospital.
He went through seven days there before being exchanged to a restoration medical clinic for physical therapy.
Kaser’s significant other, Lori, disclosed to CNN they are both changing in accordance with the mishap, yet said he will be fitted for a prosthetic once his leg heals.
Kaser disclosed to KETV he intends to come back to cultivating, but wants others to gain from his mistakes.
“I paid the cost of being in a rush and not focusing, essentially,” Kaser said.
